What is the general work load for a graduate student? - student load

I am looking for graduate programs, and I'm curious what the total workload for a full-time students in relation to a part-time student. I know that most colleges will want to work full-time student during the first year of his doctoral program, but after that it is possible to go to school full time and would be better in the only full-time students?

As a graduate student (including engineering and the sciences) to devote exepcted generally 100% of their time to their research and teaching duties. After the first year, I seriously doubt that his teaching and research load is lighter, so that any influence of distraction only exacerbate the lowest. I would say that the only exception, if you would with your advisor or service in any capacity that could relate their work as teachers in the connection / research assistant working

Otherwise, I would say that it is not possible, not the promotion. Masters maybe ok, but not students

Why not work for scholarships? Graduate school are common for this purpose. In return for the NA / RA, TA, you will receive a full exemption from tuition and a stipend .. The scholarship is used to become rich, but at least enough not to starve. While it is usually done for people and a doctorate ...
